they get dressed up in their best
and head out on the street to celebrate…
 
Guests, passers-by and the curious
offer honours and make toasts to her,
the townsfolk don’t sleep…
the town band is right on cue,
processions, ‘buñuelos’, wine, ‘sobrasada’…
and the cockerel’s crow at dawn…

Ibiza conquers all…
pirates, priests, politicians, the old, the young, children…
she seduces and chooses with whom to dance
beneath a shower of shooting stars
which will light up the castle in her honour…
