COLLECTIONS OF THE MACE EXHIBITION (1969-2009)
Until October 2009, you can enjoy of a Group of pieces from the permanent Collection of the Museum of contemporaneous art in Ibiza (MACE) in the capitulary room of the city Council.
The authors are:
Jordi Alcaraz, Erwin Brechtold, Erwin Broner, Vicent Calbet, Isabel Echarri, Will Faber, Barry Flanagan, Marcel Floris, Hans Hinterreiter, Antonio Hormigo, Conrad Marca.Relli, Antoni Marí Ribas “Portmany”, Eduard Micus, Robert Munford, Carlos Sansegundo, Adolfo Schlosser, Rafel Tur Costa, Heinz Trökes.
This ensemble has the premeditated aim of seeking a natural Framework for harmonious living, dialogue and stimulus between very different pieces of work that boost their display, making the most of the narrative discourses, readings and interpretations that could be made of them as a result of this.
It is a question of showing the unique nature and the responsibility of the museum with regard to its own history, its collections and the social and cultural environment, pointing out its thematic, chronological and geographical setting (1969-2009).
The works reflect the various moments and periods, not only of the authors but also of the dominant trends and therefore, the chronological sequence of trends and aesthetical movements that are embodied in this kind of collections.
Worthy of a mention are the abstract trends grouped around Informalism and its connections to the languages derived from Surrealism, but there is also an excellent representation of the trends derived from geometric abstraction and its vectors towards optical-kinetic poetics.
